UP / Thumb of Michigan | I've been buying them on and off since they were introduced. Last purchase was a couple months ago.
I like buying them for kids and grandkids. I need to transfer the ones I have on Treasury Direct from myself and grandkids jointly to their name. Was going to actually do that last winter, looked daunting so I just didn't do it.
If you can get far enough back in the search, they were discussed quite a lot maybe 2 years ago. If you go to Boggleheads site, there's a few thousand pages devoted to them.
First ones I bought were sold right across the counter at my local bank. That was stopped (maybe as were all savings bonds?) a few years ago, and now they have to be purchased on Treasury Direct. Far as I'm concerned, the very worst part of buying I bonds is to have to purchase them from Treasury Direct. | |
