A timely good rain followed by some days that allow soil surface to stay wet can make a drone seeded cover cop look like a million dollars. A few light rains scattered out and you just blew the drone fee and seed money out the window.
Aside from that fact, I would recommend a higher seeding rate than you have been drilling to get a similar stand which will add to the seed and drone charges.
Doesn't take much rain to get rye to germinate under crop residue. Have seen a couple 1/10 inch rains get the job done. |
