North Dakota | Just got a nice FC5000 for cheap at auction. Going to be putting wheat and barley and maybe peas with it mainly. Will maybe put some soys in potentially too, but might find a half decent narrow planter for that as there are plenty around.
Anyway, it's a single shoot and has basic seed 3 in spread shovels. It has a set of sweeps too. I'm wanting to min-till with it this spring for direct one-pass if the weather permits and thinking of getting some openers and putting down NH3. 9-1/2 in spacing and 3 inch closing wheels
So first question, what opener would people suggest? Stealth, Atom Jet, Dutch, etc...
Also, is it even worth all that too? I'm also considering just running dry fertilizer with it myself with the sweeps the previous week or so and then going back to seed with the other shovels or sweeps depending on as it's a glorified cultivator. Yes running twice, but at 51' and for 4-500 acres it'll go fast. I do want to VR N though so it's either convert the cart or go NH3 for that which will probably cost me in the same ballpark. Would like to do both eventually.
In northern ND. Thoughts? | |
