Uncle by marriage started getting some dementia a year or so ago. Then got west nile this summer that turned to menigitis. Spent 3-4 wks in the hospital. That really accelerated the dementia. Currently in a nursing facility and the family hopes he can be well enough to go to assisted living. He is 84. At least one of his many siblings had dementia from what I had heard about. I don't think the parents did from what I remember.

Another uncle by marriage had lewy body dementia his last couple of years but was late 80s.

So far I know, none of my direct ancestors had dementia. One grandma had parkinsons and that did affect her mind at the end (died at 90). I always wonder if she got that from garden pesticides from back when. When they would use arsenic and DDT, etc.
