Subject: Cat Skid Steer Lift Arms

West Central MN
Got a cat 277c skid steer that almost seems to be stuck in ‘ride control’ mode (accumulator) even though it doesn’t have the option.

Tried to attach a video, but essentially if I set the bucket on the ground then tip it forward, rather than lifting the front of the skid steer up, the lift arm goes up a couple inches. As I keep tipping eventually the lift arm stops and the front of the skid steer comes up.

At first I thought I just had really sloppy pins, but looked closer and I can actually see the cylinders extending… I just don’t get how that’s possible. Fluid is incompressible so it shouldn’t behave this way.

Any ideas?
