I'm sure the detection rate is much better now, as well as the survival rate. I've seen videos of the atomic bomb testing they did back in the cold war.  it's astonishing the number of bombs they dropped on our soil.  some of that had to get into the jet stream and fall somewhere.  when i hear of an area of really high cancers, that's what I think of.
