I really dislike tarp bow straps for the splatter they do. We have removed one on some trailers so the side we normally load with graincart is more open and that works pretty well. We have one trailer that the strap broke and has no strap currently and that is so nice to load but probably hard on the tarp. We need to do a few replacement tarps and are wondering about getting them with ridge pole pockets and installing a ridge pole. For those of you who have done this, are their any cons other than the initial investment?

I have an old Wilson with a ridge pole and another trailer with double straps. I would much rather have straps. I'm able to dump the cart between the straps and if not still have less splatter than the ridge pole especially in soybeans.
