Alton, Ia | Been blowing out engine air filters for maybe 50 years. Pretty much anything made since late 80's has the two filters, blow the outer off, inspect the inner. If there is ANY evidence of dust, both get replaced ASAP. We replace the outer generally on rec schedule, depending on hours/yr.
One of these times, I'm going to weigh the outer from the NH CR engine, before and after. I'm willing to bet it's well over 10 lb. of incredibly fine dust. I know it's a LOT heavier carrying down the ladder than back up.
