west-byGod-Pa. | It does not make sense to me that grease of any kind would not be a hindrance, but I know by experience that it does actually improve connectivity. For years, I have dabbed a TINY amount of petroleum jelly on both ends of flashlight batteries: AAA, AA, C’s, D’s….
Every single time, the brightness of the flashlight improves with the use of petroleum jelly on contacts. On other electronic devices, there is no visible, observable way to see any contact improvement . The one important thing to do is to keep the petroleum jelly away from the body of the battery, as the jelly will degrade the battery. I have no idea how I came up with the idea of using petroleum jelly on battery contacts, because I have never known anyone else to do it, nor have I read about it anywhere.
I also have used anti-seize on screw-in light bulbs in places where I have had bulbs stick & corrode. Works well.
