Lottsburg VA | You really have only 2 options honestly, the baby diesel or the 4-cylinder. The 5.3 or 6.2 v8s have a really high failure rate and have only gotten worse in the last 15 years. Each generation of these engines come with more problems. We fix so many of these in our shop with failed lifters, bent pushrods and wiped out cams it's sad. I have never had to do any work on the 4-cylinder engine and it is was over built. The diesel gets better mileage but you have def, and higher maintenance costs than gas. The 4 cylinder makes more torque than 5.3 and just feels better driving it, but it doesn't have the v8 sound. | |
