I like a 14" screen, lighted keyboard, make sure you have a SSD, [solid state disc drive],
most newer ones have them.  For travel, a smaller one is nicer, easier to carry in a case.
I've had good luck with HP, currently have an Elitebook.  Fast and lots of features, mostly
used for net browsing.
We have an older laptop running W7, for our farm records.
