Never trust suction. Fiberglass needs to have any load spread out over a large area, and/or reinforced.
We run Federal Vista, with large rubber feet, and clamps to the door frame edge.
As noted, mounting to a headache rack or mirrors, if running West Coast style mirrors is a better choice.
Running the cable and mounting the control box is a bigger challenge.
