I know the OEM's want to sell filters but I have blown out air filters for years and never had problems- once they start getting tough looking I spring for new air filters- what is your experience?? TIA-
We've been blowing out filters for as long as we’ve had engines with dry paper element air filters, which is a long time. Combine gets done daily during bean harvest. Never dusted an engine yet.
Like anything, using the brain God gave you can go a long ways towards preventing problems. NEVER clean the inside filter. If the inner air filter gets dirty it’s because the outer filter is compromised. Replace both filters immediately.
This is what we use. https://airfiltercleaner.com/ IMO, using it poses a lot less risk than banging the filter in the side of a tire.
That all said, filters still need to be replaced on a regular basis. Dust blows out but there is grime that never comes out and continually gets worse further restricting air flow.
