littlejohn - 12/1/2025 15:11 Truth to tell I don't give a fig what anyone's diet is except my own. There are a lot of different opinions about Alzheimer's and none seem to fit with what I know about my brother.

I fortunately do not have any family history of having it in my genetic lineage. I did have an uncle by marriage that got it pretty bad at a fairly early age. Bad enough they had to lock him in the house and eventually when my aunt could no longer take care of him because of age put him in old peoples storage.

The only thing in my immediate family that I have witnessed as dementia was in the last few weeks or months of life in my mom and dad. They both got a little flaky late in their life but I suspect it was from congestive heart failure and not getting the proper blood flow or oxygen to the brain. I don't think they ever got Alzheimer's, for sure not diagnosed.

From what I have been finding is currently the belief among the doctors I follow is it can be caused by several different or multiple things. Diet can have effect but also things like heavy metal accumulation, potentially pesticides, a bunch of things they speculate about. Hopefully some day they get it figured out more specifically. I got my doubts there ever will be a "cure". More likely "treatment" might get better and more hopefully "prevention" in my opinion is the best hope. Unfortunately for me probably way to late to be of benefit to myself. Maybe the next generation.
