New London, Wisconsin | We lost a rear wheel, the spindle broke off. On a busy road, at the top of a blind curve. My local towing service brought some long steel beams and after sliding them under the main frame, chained them to the drive axle. He lifted the outside end of the beams with a wrecker, a big one. I slipped the tranny into neutral and we went back to the farm about 1/2 a mile. Those beams were right under the frame. Worked like a charm.
Another time I lost the hydro, the big spline shaft problem. We made a drawbar with a hitch on both ends to tow it backwards. Again transmission in neutral and pulled it slowly with a tractor. The engine would run for steering.
