I second the Fabtuf.

It goes on relatively 'soft' for a hardface rod, so you CAN grind it a bit if you have to - just be sure to do it while still hot. It is tough, but it will grind.
Gets notably harder after cooling, and I was told it work hardens over time, as well. Overall it seemed to be a really good balance between having good wear resistance yet still not being brittle.
