Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | Not to Hijack your thread, but I've made a few projects using an ESP 32 that have been useful on the farm. I use my phone or tablet to control my 3 button door openers that I have on a shed and and another for my shop. I use an ESP 32 mounted at each location programmed as a soft "Access Point". This means the phone communicates directly with the ESP 32 and the internet is not involved. I need to be reasonably close which is not a problem. The internet could be involved but would require internet access at both the door and the phone. This is not necessary nor even desirable for my purposes.
I also made a "batcher" that uses a flow meter to aid in mixing batches of spray. The batcher has a four digit display and shows the running total of product in a batch. I use this to know when to stop adding water to complete a batch. I do not use it to measure the actual products themselves.
The reason I mentioned ESP 32 is that I've watched a few videos lately describing how the ESP 32 can be put in Deep Sleep for situations such as you describe. I haven't tried using Deep Sleep since I don't have any projects that are battery powered. All my projects have a constant electrical supply available.
