Yes, we do have more than enough bunks. Everyone gets fed once a day except for the Fat cattle obviously. They’re not here year-round.

I really appreciate your bringing up this question.

IMO this is the largest negative to using a TMR and those kind of rations.
This drives your iron expenses absolutely stupid.

You don't give any indication as to your numbers as that largely effects what you can do.
I've had it (not now) where I fed beef cows every 3 to 4 weeks and pens were opened and closed so that clean up was good (there is ALWAYS some waste but it does make a #$% fine mulch).
Now I've got some sheeps as well and right now its 2x a day times depending upon season but when you're counting on daylight things are just more challenging.

I'm also exploring what and how to minimize iron costs AND my time.
Have been looking at things like automation which may provide a solution but then I like crafting my own specialized equipment which may not be an option for you.

Understand your challenges to your social scheduling. IMO if they don't understand - - - well they just ain't worth worrying about - - - my girls is more important to me that people who don't bother thinking about my situation.

(Grin - - - hoping you're working on getting some kidlets too - - - they take a few years before they get useful though - - -grin!)

All the best to you!! A wonderful Christmas and blessed New Year as well.
