Thumb of Michigan | I've had to opportunity to see this twice, once with cables and once with nothing but a wide median.
The cable caught the tire wheel coming at us from the other side of the road. Now it could've bounce over the cable but didn't. The other time it was the car (actually a full-sized van), tire went between two cars on the opposite side of the freeway, luckily.
I vote for cables or a high concrete barrier; the guard rails I've seen are lower than the cables. | |
