North Central Iowa | I was skeptical but after witnessing a head on collision on I35 this summer in a section near me that doesn't have the cables, I'm more in favor of them. There was a car 150 yards in front of me in the RH lane that suddenly made a sharp left, crossed the median, and struck a semi, another semi, and finally an SUV of a family I know. Only the guy from my side of the road died, but the cables probably could have saved everybody on the other side and maybe the driver of the first car (I suspect he had a medical emergency). There wasn't really any opportunity for the oncoming traffic to even react... Mike |
