Same predicament here. I went to medicare.gov and signed up for Medicare. I am over 2 months out. Website said it might take 30+ days to get verified and a card sent to me.
From what I have read, avoid medicare advantage. Use a medigap plan.
Agree that signing up pre age 65 is a must, but disagree about Medicare Advantage. Ive been on Medicare Advantage about 12 yrs, couldnt be happier. Wife and I have had great coverage (joint replacements, surgeries).
See your insurance agent, get educated. Some advantage plans are NOT accepted widely. Some seem to be "more regional, some nationwide..
