North Central Kansas | Since you mentioned a 340 I will give you my experiences. I bought a 2015 Magnum 340 in 2021. It had around 1600 hours on it when I bought it. Has around 3600 now. I pull a 16 row 1250 planter with it and an 850 bushel grain cart. I also have a 16' Icon grader I pull to rebuild terraces. It spends the majority of its time in the shed. Only sits out during planting and harvesting season. Prior to this year the repairs have been minor, front axle seal, hydraulic oil thermostat and temp sensor, hydraulic switch in cab, forward reverse lever. This year has been the year from hell. In the spring it derated and showed a fuel pressure code. After a many thousand dollar fishing expedition it turned out to be the wiring harness from the ecm to the tcm had rubbed a spot through the loom and was shorting out the can bus system. I would highly recommend replacing that harness if you have one of these tractors as a preventive maintenance. I would also recommend putting the new harness in an additional loom as a precaution. The looms they use on their harnesses are junk and the routing of them allow for them to wear through.
Planted a couple of fields of cover crop this fall and everything was good. Hooked on the grain cart and started corn harvest. About half way through I got a transmission oil pressure error message. Took it to dealer and found a bearing spun on the output shaft on the front clutch. Haven't got it back yet. Guessing the bill on that is going to be nice.
This tractor has had regular maintenance. I had replaced the hydraulic oil and filters this spring. I had a 260 before this. I had very little issues with it. 7250 before that with only normal maintenance. 7120 before that lost a bearing in the hydraulic pump drive and took out the transmission.
Prior to this year I loved my 340. Not so much now. The dealership rented me a 380 CVT while mine was down. It was great on the grain cart. As one of the other posters said it had a lot of transmission noise. Not sure if that was a sign of an issue or normal for that series. My brother has a Magnum 200 CVT and a Puma 150 CVT. Neither of them are that loud.
