We have a 2032r we bought new 4 years ago with a belly mower, brush mower, driveway grader, forks, and root grapple. It’s very handy and comfortable to drive. Neither of the tractors you mentioned are great as lawn mowers, especially if you have a lot of obstacles to mow around. We only mow lawn with ours as a second mower if there is an extra driver around. We looked at 3e and 3r series also and picked the 2r largely because of the layout of controls. My wife uses it a good bit and she’s not very tall so that was important for her. I have been impressed with it on a 6ft brush mower it handles it better than I thought it would. It has never felt underpowered and still maneuvers well. The grapple has been awesome for cleaning up branches when trimming trees in the yard and along field edges. I did have to add a 3rd function kit for that. They are available through Deere parts. There are also aftermarket kits you can get cheaper but I like the fit and finish of the Deere kit. If you’re planning to put a backhoe on it the bigger model might be worth the consideration. I’m guessing the 3r would also have a better lift capacity as well. Ours is limited to about 800 pounds with the forks. This hasn’t been a problem with the bucket or grapple.

Edit to add after seeing jdel’s post… We added 2 1/2 inch wheel spacers to the back of ours and switched the front wheels so they are dished out for stability when mowing road ditches.
