South Central NE | 10 years ago we signed up for Medicare and some supplemental policies. My wife was an insurance agent at the time so she made the process very simple. As I recall we needed to be signed up for Medicare before we turned 65 or there were some problems that would happen. If I remember correctly it had to do with preexisting conditions. Seems like they would affect your Medicare premiums going forward. Maybe someone else can correct this if my memory is wrong. We have a policy that fills in the gaps that Medicare doesn't cover and also a drug plan. We had no problems keeping our health care provider.
Your current health insurance agent should be able to steer you through the process. Our agent will assess the coverage and cost for us whenever we feel it's necessary. We currently use Wellcare for drugs and Mutual of Omaha to fill in the gaps in Medicare coverage. Be sure whatever you buy that your local providers, clinics, hospitals, and pharmacies will accept them. | |
