Northern Illinois | Local library was having a medicare presentation. Getting there I find out it is put on by a medicare insurance broker. She was very professional and did not push one plan over another. She did say up front that she is paid by the insurance companies and not the individual. I realize I am paying for her services but not directly so no additional cost to me.
I think there is a reason we see so many medicare advantage plans. The insurance companies a lot of money on them so they push them. I rarely see a medigap plan advertised. From my research I knew that I wanted a medigap plan.
I went through the insurance broker and she did all the paperwork. They do this every day. I currently do not have a health insurance broker as my country companies agent is not an insurance agent. Years ago my country companies rolled into blue cross and all that is online. A friend used his brokerage agent as they deal with retirement. My Fidelity does it but I did not use them.
Medicare A&B are automatic. I signed up for a medigap plan and a drug plan.
