Our area is largely share crop rent, and the ground I know of locally would be treated just like any other landlord agreement.
There are several quarters in the area that have been split into 160 'shares' and a partnership is dorme. The shares are sold to widows, single ladies, etc that want to invest some cash. The ground is still farmed by a tenant, and at the end of the year the crop is sold and the profit distributed among the shares.
