Have a gas fireplace that is really nothing more than an expensive wall decoration. River rock floor to ceiling. Looks good. Gets lit maybe twice a winter. Family room gets over heated while the rest of the house goes cold because the furnace doesn't get a call for heat. Running the furnace fan on continuous does little to disperse the heat.
