Southern Indiana
Hard to be successful buying other people's problems. I would try contacting the manager of a reputable sale barn and asking for recommendations on whose cattle to look for and try to buy some yearling heifers. Since your area has a lot more corn than cows you may need to go where the cows are in concentration so you have something to pick from. I suggest calling Jeremy Shryok at Bluegrass Stockyards in Lexington, KY. (859) 967 6479. He and the managers at the other barns could tell you where to look.
I could also recommend a reasonable priced breeder with some really nice calving ease bulls.
Nothing in it for me, just like to help a guy out.
Good luck.
