Embarrass WI | When my parents built this house in 1973, they had a huge double sided fireplace-one facing the kitchen (which almost never got used because the kitchen got so hot) one in the living room. In 2018 I remodeled and removed the stone fireplace (from foundation to roof) and opened up the living area.
Didn’t want to go without a fireplace, so added a gas fireplace in the corner of the family room. Don’t recall the cost, whatever it was it was worth it.
