WCIL | We have since sold the auger and bought one with factory mounts, so I'm going off memory. On ours, there was a shaft coupler about 4 ft upstream of the gearbox. We removed that short section of shaft and the galvanized shield and moved the gearbox up there. Was factory made to do this. Took some heat to get coupler off. I believe we mounted the motor downstream of the gearbox. Took the PTO storage cradle and used it to hang the motor cord. The motor made the auger bottom heavy so we used fuel tank straps and strapped a piece of rectangular tubing flat ways under the auger tube toward the top to balance it. Once everything was painted, it looked fairly seamless for a farmer fix. I made a sketch and included a pic of the motor mount.
