Strathcona, mn | .44 mag is one of my favorite deer hunting rounds. I have a Ruger red hawk, I’ve shot probably close to a dozen deer with it over the years. Closest shot was 6 feet and the farthest was about 100 yards. Usually if I’m curious about sight in I’ll just rest my hands on a sand bag off the bench. Depending on situation while hunting I’ve shot from a two hand hold or leaning against something for stability. My preferred round for whitetail deer are federal hydra-shok 240 grain. I’ve never had a deer move more than about 10 yards with multiple dropping straight to belly with a hit from that round! | |
