The problem is, the criteria for getting consumer loans didn't get harder to meet, there's just more people that are in that bad of financial condition that they get denied for a consumer loan.
That's bad.
If they go into a cash advance place and get approved it's going to be a lot worse. 10-12% for a personal loan from a credit union is cheap compared to 5-600% (not a typo) cash advances.
