indiana | 555 I’m guessing you have grain bins ? But if I didn’t know better you don’t store soybeans on the farm? In your eyes we probably don’t figure our expenses properly. Everyone figures differently, especially farmers. Find me two farmers that think and do everything the same? Can’t be done.
So here is an example. We delivered some soybeans at harvest for $10.00-10.20. We had a nice rally after harvest, we rewarded it. Just recently delivered soybeans out of the bin for $11.00-11.50. I suppose you want to only look at basis and carry? If I’d stored at the grain terminal it would’ve been 40cents per bushel drop charge , then 8 cents per bushel per month. I didn’t have to pay that. I suppose in your eyes I can’t claim that as a storage return. Maybe you have worked as a grain merchandiser sometime in your life and are good at it. But grain terminal’s turn the “house” several times if possible. A farmer is only going to turn it once. In my eyes the farmer and grain terminal are similar and different all at the same time. Not sure I said anything of value, just rambling while I watch it snow. | |
