| This is probably the first year.. 2025.. which we've finally recovered from the 2022-24 drought(s). I maintain our farmstead yield data back to 1979.. 22, 23 and 24 were back to back to back down years.. the longest stretch since 79.. "here."
2025 is the first year.. since.. 2021?? Which the local elevator has piled corn outside.. our last circle topped off the elevator.. they were done pilling.. and we had to bring a few loads home.. which topped us off. Overall.. on farm is 92% full.. utilizing some bins.. which.. "need work" but can still fill.
Uunfortunately I filled 1 with wheat.. hedged with an accumulators which partially filled before being "knocked out".. and we suffered the price decline on the rest. However, moved the rest of a good wheat crop at very good contracts at harvest.
Ive still got.. about a years worth of Corn contracted across 25, 26 and 27.. but down from earlier. And some $7 wheat contracted for 26.. nothing like last year.. though.
Where coming off the high priced contracts and today's offers are.. "meh" so we'll start to accumulate unpriced.. stored crops in 26.. unless China cones in a big way.
Commercial storage will become tight/expensive again.. "here." |
