| I am amazed this doesn't happen more often to be honest. I have had so many close calls it is unbelieveable, and those pretty much were just in the daytime. Only allowed to move equipment for food stuff crops that are time essential here where I am at night, so did some of that with processing tomatoes, but not often if we could help it. With that said, I have been clipped by drivers who were up in age and probably shouldn't have been on the road at all, had one knock a mirror off on a corn planter where I was coming across a bridge, edge of the bar on the planter was right on the yellow line and that guy was just coming full send right on the line. I happened to be on a open station tractor and was hoping I wasn't going to be thrown off in the crash that was inevitable..............I couldn't get over any farther, but somehow the guys mirror just hit, knocked it right off and over the side of the bridge it went. Guy never slowed down. Never heard anymore about it, maybe he didn't even know it. I am to the point now I want to be in a cab on the road, only move things at certain times when I know the roads we use aren't busy and it still is taking your life into your own hands. I am buying equipment now based on transport width it is getting so crazy. Insurance agent said alot of the premium increases are because of the road problems, and an accident such as this would certainly back that claim. Couldn't imagine how long that will be tied up with lawyers and courts. | |
