As a pork producer I can say without a doubt that China has NEVER been a reliable trading partner.   They have ALWAYS manipulated our markets with completely made up BS and skirting around reporting rules.  

  And they never should have been allowed to purchase Smithfield or any other physical assets in the US.  



Your right they should have never been allowed to buy smithfield or any other assets. From what I know China been ( or had been)pretty reliable as far as trade goes. China is not fair though and far as I am concerned never have been. As mentioned by someone else stealing technology, yup theres another one. The pegging of the dollar. Dumping of product. I dont know about the manipulating of the pork market,but JBL, cal maine eggs are guilty of manipulation as I think other large corporations are guilty of manipulation also.

In 1979 after diplomatic negotions the 2 countries traded. Reliable trading is one thing.

Being fair is another. China from the get go I remember pegged the yaun to the dollar. It was never fair.
