ecmn | I like it. Do some testing. Brix is a moving Target from one day to the next. You have different sunlight, temperature, solar activity, moisture..
I guess if I was going to look at raising it I would do everything opposite of what we're doing to lower it.
There is no brix in a jug. You can't just go spend $15 an acre on a product and raise it.
It's a fundamental shift on your farm and in your thinking process
One pass of tillage or one pass of fungicide is not destroying our soil. It's the constant knocking it down with many many passes
There is a lot of University and economic journals papers that show the research that a lot of front load fertilizer is a key reason why our plants have a weekend defense system.
I haven't used a fungicide or at least the conventional style fungicide in many years. I use a phosphite acid product which acts like a fungicide. But it does not have the killing agent. It promotes the plant's defense system and plant health through nutrition
Have several fields that have built soil health on that I haven't needed to apply bulk phosphorus fertilizer in 10 years. Soil test is maintaining.
Bugs are very selective. You don't have to get to a 14. You don't have to outrun the bear. You just have to outrun the guy next to you. So if you just raised your level a couple points, it might be enough that the bugs are going to move in. Realize that this isn't that great and then go across the road and enjoy that field.
Diseases are not selectable so if you were building a healthier plant and you had to come in with a fungicide, maybe you get by with one pass where the neighbor across the road needs three
