Powell has been instructed not to work with Trump?
I’m not saying you’re wrong and I am no expert. But isn’t Trump trying to pressure the Fed to reduce interest rates (even though a perceived independent Fed is vitally important)? So if Powell ‘worked’ with Trump and lowered interest rates against his better judgment. Would lower rates not be inflationary and help lead to higher commodity and hard asset values?? Or am I missing something.
Lower rates would be inflationary. Yes, hard asset values will rise, commodities will rise over time, but will lead to larger farms getting larger and small farms eventually going under. Fiat currency always favors the wealthy.
Every generation under a fiat currency has a harder time starting from nothing than the one before. Is this what we want? 25 years ago in our area a starting teacher salary was about 1/3 of the price of a dryland quarter. Now a starting teacher salary is 1/10 of the price of a dryland quarter. Yes there have been other factors besides inflation that caused this, but inflation is the number one reason. |
