hlstark - 11/26/2025 20:49 International trade relies on the predictability of the parameters of trade between the two countries. When on country changes the trade pattern through tariffs that are imposed one week, raised the next, and lowered the following day, the reliability and relationship between the trading partners gets fractured. This erratic behavior results in the perception of failing to be a reliable supplier. When trust is broken, trade will always migrate to a more stable partner.

You're describing EXACTLY how China has treated trading with the US for decades.     China has always been an unreliable trading partner.    It has never been a two way street of free/fair trade with China.

I’ve never understood why some want to continue to pretend PRC is/was our friend.  They are not, never have been and never will be.

Your both correct to a point.
China was a realiable trading partner for years. ( Well up to tariffs)
China pegged the yaun to the dollar for years and took advantage of the currency exchange. Yes screwed the USA and in more ways than 1.
China as of now is not reliable, why? trade war
If you have couple trading partners 1 is unreliable and 1 is reliable who you going to go with. The reliable trading partner. Why would you goto a country, person which is not reliable?

As of now Canada and India have been reaching out for other trade agreements.

China is out for China and no China will never really be out friend and for that fact I dont think China and Russia will allways be great friends either. They are now, but they have had their fueds. Russia still holds vast amount of land which was once part China, imagine CHina has not forgotten.
