There is not really that much less corn getting fed in the United States. The weight of the cattle being harvested has gone up considerably. The market wants heavier, cattle, and feeder calves are high price so the feeder is feeding them to heavier weights. A few years ago The Cattle market wanted 1300 pound animals now they want closer to 1800 pound animals.. Add to that the feed conversion, it takes more pounds of grain per pound of gain above 1300 then it takes below that weight. So now if the USDA would just put the nationalyield at about 179 where it should be cash corn will be five dollars in May…..Dennis
