California | I can not relate, but definitely understand the struggle farmers are having, especially considering the rise of costs, and insufficient help. I recently spoke to farmers out in San Jacinto (CA) and all of them keep telling me the same thing. Costs are killing them to the point where they're barely staying afloat or operating at a loss (for the sake of their cattle). The sad truth is that many of them simply can not operate at a profit making their own feed, so its much cheaper to buy it elsewhere than to make it themselves. There are companies that are interested in making protein meal at a cheaper rate than current options like soy beans which is why I was particularly interested in asking farmers how they are currently dealing with sky high prices in their livestock feed. Thank you for answering, I appreciate the information. | |
