| I don’t think I can reduce feed cost, but keeping it where it’s at is priority for sure.
No known gut bacteria issues. Mineral is pretty important for me depending what pasture I’m in. I have some that it’s a non issue and some where you can guarantee a few retained placenta without any.
No technology here, most suffocated thing I use is monitor on hay baler.
I use byproducts like sprouted wheat and anything I can get a screaming deal on
Math says I spent $25 a head on cotton seed for Protien this year. But I do some rotational grazing on winter wheat for protien.
No ionophore for me, I might if it was cheap and you didn’t need a RX now for it. Not sure what tylosin is.
Basically I can grow grass cheaper than buy stuff. I’d love to hit easy button and use protein tubs, but they just pain cost too much. I’m for profit for me not someone else. I have a cake box in the weeds I’d love to use but a shovel and straight truck loads of cotton seed are 1/3 the money. I’m gonna make money with sweat while I’m young enough. Biggest expense on my cattle is land payment, second is hay equipment maintenance, third is fence supplies, 4th spraying weeds, 5 fertilizer. the rest is all insignificant long as I work for free. | |
