Virginia, Northern Neck | I hate to say this, but Hitachi makes a replacement starter for almost every MT, and they work so much better.
I worked with MT series starters from the 1960s until about 10 years ago.
When you buy the Hitachi, they don't want a core.
I've got a stack of MT cores, and it used to bother me, but seriously, Hitachi is a better starter, and it turns faster.
Sometimes, the Hitachi has fewer teeth than the starter it replaces, that is one of the reasons it can turn it faster, higher gear reduction and a faster electric motor. | |
