Ft. Ripley MN | Yep… you get it… if/when feeders go to $1500… I’m gonna get nervous… until then for the cow/calf guy it ain’t to bad. Sure didn’t sell on the high but you will never bat 1000. Fed them out last year… typically just background. To be honest it could look like a loser in time but for now this is the typical price depression… feed is cheap let’s just see what happens. Absolutely I feel bad for the guys buying now and watching prices slip… I don’t want them to lose money but it’s the business we are in.
I think your system is what alot of guys will transition to especially on high fertility ground. As far north as I am I’m a little nervous to try it but I would like to do the rye, corn system… west of the west river well still be the same cattle system but east of the west river… I think it’s gonna take some higher management to make cattle work.
Massey1155 had some good posts on market talk.. sure things have leveled off but compared to year over year we are still doing well!! Just might have to run that loader tractor and baler one more year ;) | |
