| Hi John, just saw the link to this site and thought I would say hello. I thought about you when my kid left some Ivermectin here when he visited, and I took it. I've bothered a lot for most of my life with migraine type headaches - always with sinus problems. Nothing I've tried worked to reduce the flow that didn't have bad side effects. I was reading how Ivermectin acted to reduce inflammation, so I wondered if it would have any effect. I was having bad headaches every other day or so - and the remaining days I felt like I was on the edge of one. Happens every year after harvest - I still run the combine for my younger brother. I usually get some relief mid-winter, but it never has gone away. On the second day of taking the Ivermectin, the excess sinus flows quit - along with the headaches. Interestingly, my skin appears to have cleared up too - and that has been an ongoing problem ever since I got the COVID booster that I needed in order to get into BC to fish for steelhead. (G). So now, I'm waiting on word about getting more of it shipped to me. Any advice on that?
I read through some of the posts. One mentioned gabapentin - I just wanted to say that I tried that a few years ago. Miracle drug for falling asleep and sleeping through the night. Woke up well rested and could not feel any side effects. Then I began to sense that my brain was no longer working right. I fell down a couple times - once reeling in a big fish while walking down a very rocky riverbank. Later that fall when I was combining, I would have to stop and think about what I was doing at times. My thought was that would be the last year I would be running the combine. At some point, I began wondering about the gabapentin. My wife and I always joked about finding someone who could wire in an on/off switch on my forehead - so that she could simply reach over in the evening and flip the switch. My problem wasn't that I wasn't tired or didn't need sleep. I have never been able to shut my brain off whenever it decides it wants to work. Gabapentin worked beautifully - but I discovered there was a downside. As far as walking and reeling in a big fish, my brain would no longer multi-task. And balance requires a lot of brain power, I think. This is why old people fall down - their brains are not able to process like they used to. A quick little brain lapse and a person falls down. Anyway - I was worried that it would be permanent, but thankfully it came back once I quit taking the gabapentin. I've seen where this drug has been increasing in popularity recently and it is frequently prescribed, and it worries me.
I suspect this is the case for Benedryl too. I occasionally take a reduced amount for sinuses to sleep - but only when it gets real bad. Hopefully, when I get a supply of Ivermectin, I won't need it. BTW - I feel pretty comfortable with a modest dose of it. In the COVID scare, I asked my brother if we still had some around. He found a half a pail of it. We treated thousands of cattle with it, as I remember, and neither of us is dead yet.
Glad to see you are still going good, John. I was able to put our small boat in the Skeena River and swing flies for steelhead again last summer. Then, combining wasn't too bad either. I guess I do enjoy feeling somewhat productive yet. (BG) | |
