I'm just happy someone is doing something regarding trade rather than getting rich off of insider deals. Will everything work? I don't know.
Howard Lutnick, the tariff architect, is selling "tariff rebate insurance". This is crony capitalism and it is BS.
"Cantor Fitzgerald's investment banking arm facilitates deals where clients buy "rights" to potential refunds from companies that paid Trump's tariffs, if courts strike them down. The firm takes 20-30% fees on duties involved (e.g., $2-3 million on a $10 million claim), profiting from ongoing lawsuits like the Supreme Court challenge. At least one $10 million deal has been executed, capitalizing on policy volatility Lutnick publicly champions. This creates a hedge: Tariffs stay, markets volatile (good for trading); they're overturned, refunds flow."
