| You can hope all you want for positives to come out of this. But I doubt there is any positives. The facts are that President Trump has framed these tariffs as retaliation over the prosecution of his ally, right-wing former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.

The reason for reversal is the hope that this will lower the price of beef for consumers and his political ally, Jair Bolsonaro, recently got sentenced to prison for 27 years for a coup attempt
There was no economic justification for the initial tariff. It was purely a political motive and had nothing to do with a trade benefit. The USA actually was having a trade surplus before the tariff.
