S Illinois | BRICS is a nothing burger. Way too much of polar opposites with inferiority complexes between them to accomplish anything. India will never allow China to lead anything it is apart of. Brazil is just the supermarket that China wants to shop at. South Africa is laughable as an economically important nation in anyway. So it comes down to Chinas economic heft and Russias continued clinging to thinking it’s a global superpower. Luckily Russia has an energy slush fund to pull from. But all of these competing thoughts are not compatible. It’s why nothing has come from all their meetings. Optics are more important than substance for Russian and Chinese leadership. | |
