How short do you want the hay processed? We have hundreds of dairy farmers processing thousands of bales with no other equipment besides a mixer.

I will say most of the round balers have knives in and that does help.

Get a good mixer with good knives and set it up right it will work.

Get at least a 450 cu ft mixer dump it in and let it break it up. Dump your hayleage in to help hold it down in the knives. Dump the grain in on top 5 to 8 minutes go feed it.

I have one customer cutting it down o 5/8” verified by a shaker box.
He lets it run 20 min after all ingredients are in.
