Subject: RE: Oversizing a home furnace

Central MN
I’ve got to do some more checking into this. I don’t really need central air as the house has a wall unit that can cool it down to slightly above the interior of my fridge. My problem is I have electric heat which averages 4-500 a month for heat which I feel is too expensive. I have all new windows and doors house is your standards 1970s rambler with 2X4 walls. I have a brick heater in the basement that’s bad and the coop wants 2500 ish for the size I need to replace it in addition to installation costs. I’m just wondering if I’d be better off the put in either a boiler or some sort of furnace system in the long run ie out that 3-4k towards something totally different. The problem with my house is that I’m on load control where they shut my power off heat off in the evenings which means it gets a little chilly in the house some nights. Even with that load control reduced rate electricity, my bill is still 4-500.
My electric bill is around 3-3500 a year and ITS JUST A HOUSE!! No barn bins nothing just a house!
I can’t believe I’d burn 3500 in propane a year which leads me to think that perhaps it might be cost effective to put in a different system that would hopefully pay for itself just based on electricity savings.
Again I have no idea what it would cost all I know is I’m sick of paying the worthless coop every month
